Can you make the Cosmic Energy Stick burst into life?
Place one hand on each of the silver conductive contacts at either end of the clear tube and bright coloured LEDs begin to flash while the stick sounds. Lift either hand away and it stops.
You’ve completed—and then broken—an electrical circuit.
But the real fun begins when you add other people.
Hold one end of the Cosmic Energy Stick while a friend holds the other, then join your free hands. The stick responds again. Add another person… and another…
How big can you make your human circuit?
As long as there is a suitable conductive pathway connecting the two contacts, the Cosmic Energy Stick can respond. Break that pathway and the lights and sound stop.

wires, circuit board and electronic sounder. Openings in the end cap allow the sound to escape clearly when the circuit is completed.
So this isn’t just a science toy that flashes and makes a noise. It provides a starting point for asking questions about electricity, circuits, conductivity, resistance and electronic components.

Once you’ve mastered the human circuit, the experiments can begin.
What happens if somebody in your human chain lets go? Can you make the circuit even bigger? Will the stick respond if you connect the two contacts using another material? Which materials provide a suitable conductive pathway—and which don’t?
