When you book your Virtual Science Experience you will be:

• sent the show video (which has an introduction section tailored to your event). This can then be up-loaded onto your schools’ platform.

Scientific Sue would normally choose just one or two volunteers per sketch to help her out on stage during her live shows; this show is  virtual you, so you the teacher (facilitator), is now in charge of these sections of the activity. You will be guided to stop the video at certain points throughout the show. At these times:

1. You may stick to the programme and choose the number of volunteers Sue requests or
2. You can pause the video for longer and have extra helpers or
3. let ALL of your pupils do the experiment!

This gift is a must for inquisitive budding (and not so budding) scientists!

This handheld ultraviolet (UV) light scanner is usually used to check the validity of passports and bank notes. The lamps sheds UV light on the bank notes to reveal embedded safety features such as UV marks, metal thread or watermarks.

Passing Secrets

Any proper spy will find the need to pass secret information along to an ally securely. There are many techniques to do so – sometimes, they can be highly technical, such as an encrypted message, but other times simply hiding information just outside of plain sight can be very effective.

There are lots of everyday materials that fluoresce or glow when placed under a black light – a black light gives off highly energetic ultraviolet light. We can’t see this part of the spectrum, which is how ‘black’ lights got their name.

Fluorescent substances absorb the UV light and then re-emit it almost instantaneously. Some energy gets lost in the process, so the emitted light has a longer wavelength than the absorbed radiation, which makes this light visible and causes the material to appear to glow. Our Safari Bubble Blowers are a Fantastic Science Gift

There are 5 safari bubble blowers and these animals need to get bubble food frequently. Fill the bubble liquid into the tray and dip the bubble ring into the liquid. After taking it out again squeeze the safari animal to get them to blow small bubbles. This is their way of saying thank you for feeding them.

This horseshoe magnet is a fun, educational toy which will allow your young wards to discover the attraction of magnets. With a retro design, this magnet will give your child hours of entertainment.

It is a good quality, sturdy item but as with all magnets the material it is made from is brittle so will break if allowed to drop on to a hard surface.

How Magnets Work

This horseshoe magnet is an Al-Ni-Co magnet. It is a permanent magnet which is primarily made up of a combination of aluminium, nickel and cobalt. Alnico is an acronym of iron alloys made up from Aluminium (Al) nickel (Ni) and cobalt (Co).

Let’s Go Fishing

Metal paperclips are pulled towards the magnet. Using this phenomenon we can make small sea creatures and use a paperclip as the mouth.

I have used the rainbow foamy putty to make my fish – this is an air-drying material which is very light and perfect for using with this magnet. It can be rolled out and then cut or shaped into any design you may wish to pick up with the magnet – attach the paper clip to the outside, or push it in to your design.

Colour a paper plate blue, lay your fish shapes on it. tie some string around your magnet and attach the other end to a small stick or pencil. With 2 or more magnets this could be a challenge game!
