In the European Union citric acid is known as E 330 as a food additive.

Citric Acid is a weak organic acid. It occurs naturally in citrus fruits and it is the ‘sugar like’ coating on sweets such as ‘toxic waste’, ‘lemon drops’ and ‘Sour Haribos’.

It looks like sugar but is definitely not sweet! Citric acid, just like lemons and lime is very sour.

Citric Acid is one off the stronger edible acids. It’s dominant use is in flavouring and preservative in food and beverages, especially soft drinks

It is also one of the main ingredients in Bath Bombs, Colour Changing Bubble Baths and Lemonade! Scientific Sue also uses in her Magical Amortentia Spell – A love Enchantment

SAFETY

Although a weak acid, exposure to pure citric acid can cause adverse effects. Inhalation may cause cough, shortness of breath, or sore throat. Over-ingestion may cause abdominal pain and sore throat. Exposure of concentrated solutions to skin and eyes can cause redness and pain. Long-term or repeated consumption may cause erosion of tooth enamel.
